Rabbi Dr. Louis Jacobs

It is probably not lost on most readers that Rabbi Dr. Louis Jacobs has passed away. With all of the obituaries (e.g. I, II) celebrating his wonderful personal midos (character traits), his brilliant and penetrating scholarship, and his many other exemplary qualities -- of which I dispute none -- I just want to advise people not to get too caught up and forget that, at least according to his writings, he was undisputably a heretic. I don't see much glory to the Torah in raising onto a pedestal someone who denied it (yes, I know the details of his published views).
